Luna and Santos have something else in common: aliases. Then again, many fine American leaders, such as presidents Ford and Clinton, had more than one name.

One claim that’s got attention is that she has a Jewish background, after Santos’s outrageous lies on that subject. Actually, her grandfather fought in the
Wehrmacht. No wonder she took her grandmother’s last name, not her father’s name Mayerhofer. (Her parents weren't married.)

As much as I find this disturbing, I can't help but wonder if the media were to turn its attention to Democratic legislators they would find the same thing happening.

You don't have to wonder. Joe Biden has made many false claims about himself in the past. Elizabeth Warren, Ilhan Omar, and others. And the media (the conservative side) covered those. I'm sure there are more. Policticians in general (left or right), especially at the lower levels, tend to exagerate their qualifications. I don't know why they would in this day and age of finger-tip investigation.

I recall that a consultant wrote a speech for him that copied much of one by a British politician. That's not claiming to be what he's not.
