For those who didn't notice, the Bored was down for a few hours last night. --Bob

My webhost reports that there was a circuit breaker failure in the datacenter. The resulting power loss didn't affect the servers themselves, but did cause a number of the network switches to go down for a while. In layman's terms, the server which hosts my account was fine....it just lost its internet connection for a bit. Anyway, they reset a circuit breaker, and tested all the servers individually (which was probably the majority of the delay) and now all is well.

Those who reached chat before the breakdown stayed there, as the chat box bobbed along merrily.

It was getting database errors, so that means the connection to the server with the database was down.

The chat box graphic itself is part of this site, but the "chat server" is outside of this site (hence the occasional interloper) so it will stay running as long as you get there before the site goes down.

In related news, I've just realized that it's been two and a half months since lb13 and I did some late-night testing of a new chat program, so perhaps I'll finally get around to putting the finishing touches on it sometime soon. I may get some of you regular chatters to check it out one night coming up. :)

Sounds like fun! Wednesday or Thursday is the night we have the most and can stay around the longest,
it that helps any. We'll be lots of help, I'm sure.
