Good News I'm keeping my spleen.
I was diagnosed with IPT 2 years ago. It means I had a very low platelet count. I was treated with WinRho and got some better. The next step would be a spleenectomy. Today my platelet count was normal, so I get to keep my spleen for a while longer. I may even be able to run with scissors again.

I will now have to look up IPT. But I know spleens have turned out to be important in the immune response, so hang on to it as long as possible.

IPT is thought to be an autoimmune disorder and the spleen does the job of removing the platelets that the body has decided are now unwelcome.
