The high school I do the football public address for won in the state playoff quarter-finals last night 27-3. That makes our tenth straight win. Now we get to play our old and familiar nemesis Oak Grove next week for the 5A South State Championship. If you remember, the authors of the book
Y'all vs Us included the Meridian/Oak Grove rivalry in their book detailing fifteen of the best high school football rivalries in Mississippi. It looks like we will get to add another chapter to our story next Friday night.
The good news is that I get to do the announcing since we are the higher seed and get to play at home.
The bad news is that I will have to miss the Egg Bowl for the second consecutive year due to both games being played on the same day. (the Friday after Thanksgiving)
It will be an exciting week in Wildcat country, especially since the rivalry got a little boost when we played them earlier in the regular season (we won

) and they filed a complaint with the activities association for our cheerleaders being too exuberant. They will see a new level of Exuberance when they hit Ray Stadium next Friday night.
