My Dad
...passed away peacefully in his sleep early this morning.
It was, I suppose, not all that big of a surprise given the state of his health over the last few months. At the same time, it was unexpected in a way...hopefully you know what I am saying.
Dad was 79 years old. Given his life history, you might say that we got way, way more time with him than might have been. And yes, he did live a full life. Still gonna miss him, though.
Mom is doing very well, thanks; I think she was probably as prepared as a person could be. And the kids seem to be doing okay for the most part as well.
Sorry if this is a bit brief...lots to do right now, and not only with things pertaining to Dad. I'll poke in as I can over the next few days - hopefully fairly often (you folks make for a wonderful support group) but if I am a bit more scarce than usual I am sure you will understand.
Thanks...

Suitguy is not bitter.
feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive
The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Re: My Dad
My heartfelt condolences, AD. Prepared or not, it is still tough to lose a parent. We weren't prepared for Dad, we were for Mom. It still hurts either way. Peace to you and yours.

Re: My Dad
You are certainly in my prayers.
I don't think we can ever be "prepared" for the death of a loved one. The death of a father hits especially hard for a son, I think. Make sure you have plenty of good support.
