GOP spends $150,000 for Palin's wardrobe

#1 Post by Bob Juch » Wed Oct 22, 2008 9:18 am

John McCain's presidential campaign said thousands of dollars worth of clothing purchased by the Republican Party for running mate Sarah Palin will go to a "charitable purpose" after the campaign.

And you thought a $500 haircut was bad?

How much did the Greek columns for Obama's address cost?

Or all the stretch limos the environmentally-friendly Dems rented in Denver cost?

Again- do you REALLY want to go down this road?

(Of course, I probably didn't like the strtech limos because they were black).

$150,000 for clothing because she is a real person and doesn't have nor can afford a campaign wardrobe vs. $800,000 for 'voter' resgistration payments to ACORN.

Yeah, I see right through you.

How many of you have a campaign's worth of nice suits at the ready?

If you are female, do you have a wardrobe worth of such wear knowing that the press is waiting to pick you apart?

Do any of you have such attire and in sufficient numbers for your kids?

Could any of you absorb the hefty price tag on short notice as she did?

I couldn't

So, if she'd displayed her family in their, probably, normal attire of jeans and flannel shirts (it's Alaska, for Christ's sake!), you'd have ridiculed her for being low-budget and local yokel (to an even greater degree than present).

Nice trap.

And as long as I'm at it, how come with Obama raising such unprecedented amounts of cash and the subsequent blitz of radio/print/TV ads, etc, he's not much further ahead?

Never mind that he signed a pledge to only take only the finite federal campaign dollars (nice keeping of his word.), if he is outspending McCain by nearly 4 to 1, why doesn't he have at least a 2 to 1 poll advantage.

I think (and, admittedly hope) there might just be a surprise come 4 Nov 08.

There are bigger fish to fry and much more important reasons to vote for or against one of the presidential candidates. The information isn't even worth the ink or electrons used to report it. Move along.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

Michelle Obama wears nice dresses she gets at Target for $137 or so. You don't need a jacket costing 5 grand to look nice in public.

And you don't need Greek columns, a Hollywood production crew, a headlining rock star, and thousands of thousands of dollars worth of fireworks to make an acceptance speech.

Your point?

Could you direct me to those particular Target dresses? I'd like to have that green one.

Far be it from me to tell the RNC how to spend its money, but if I'm a Republican, I'm thinking, "How much radio time would 150 large buy in Pennsylvania?"
I am about 25% sure of this.

I especially like the scarf she wore yesterday.....Had donkeys all over it and said "vote".

Oh, I'm sorry. I forgot. We can't talk about the GOP's exorbitant and elitist spending because the Obamas eat arugula and Swiss cheese.

What a bunch of elitists. If she were a Real American, she'd shop at Walmart. Unbeatable prices (lb says so)!

I also find it difficult to believe that the governor of Alaska didn't have a couple of nice suits in her closet.

No luck. I checked every dress on Target.com. The most expensive dress shown is an Isaac Mizrahi cashmere turtleneck sweater dress for $99.99.

Pretty cute, actually.

I can't find the green dress. The one from The View was $147 at Black Market/White House, but it's $99 online. The H&M dress was $37.50.

The View dress was awesome! I would wear that one.

Tim, what you have seen is a blatant and obvious intent by me to divert the thread to innocuous blather because, as I have previously stated, I see no need for the other stuff.

I, too, don't really care about how much the RNC spends on Sarah Palin's wardrobe and makeup. In fact, I'd much rather they blow lots of money on her clothes than use it to fund robocalls that come very close to labeling Obama a terrorist. So I for one say, "Go ahead -- shop till you drop!"

I never thought of that before.

I like the way you think.
