A 3/4 cup serving of Frosted Flakes has 11 g. of sugars (out of 27 g. of total carbohydrates).

A PowerBar Performance bar has 24 g. of sugars (out of 43 g. of carbs.).

Gatorade has 14 g. of sugars (and no other carbs) in an 8 oz. serving.

I'm not sure what you're comparing with those two choices, but if you're talking about cereal, 3/4 cup of Wheaties has 4 g. of sugars (out of 22 g. of total carbs.).
I'm a Raisin Bran girl. That has 19 g. of sugars, but I figure most of that is from the raisins, so nature is on my side.

Its just that I don't think there are "good" and "bad" foods, but there is a lot of faddishness when it comes to food. And the history of breakfast cereals is full of a lot of quackery, starting with its the most important meal of the day.

As a general rule, cereals that are high in sugar are low in fiber. Fiber is good for you. Maybe that is also quackery, and if it is, it is quackery that I choose to think is fact.

I want more fiber in my cereal.

It is all about the poop, you know.

My sister told me that most of the vitamins and minerals in cereal isn't actually in the flakes itself. Most of the vitamins and such are sprayed on after the cereal is made. So unless you drink the milk left in the bottom of the bow after you finish the cereal you're not getting much in the way of vitamins and minerals cuz all the vitamins and minerals gat washed off when you pour the milk over the cereal.

I like frosted flakes. They're yummy.

I am not a milk fan. I eat cereal dry, or mixed with yogurt.

That's good to know. I don't like milk, so I barely put any on my cereal when I eat it.

My latest breakfast of choice is Yoplait Yo Plus Digestive Health Yogurt mixed with flax seed and raw berries.

That's funny that you write that. I have a grape addiction, especially cold from the fridge. Yes, it's healthier than eating a bag of potato chips, but it's too many calories/too much sugar, so I rarely eat them. I had them as a treat yesterday and ate the entire 1/2 pound in one sitting. Happy Labor Day to me!

Have you tried freezing them?

It was always a big hit when I brought baggies of frozen grapes to Emma's soccer games. (Take them off the stem.)

Not a fan of frozen fruit - even cold fruit does not taste as good to me as room temperature fruit.

I try to remember to take my apple out of the fridge in the morning.

I will have to try freezing them...grapes are one of the few fruits that I enjoy cold. I keep most everything room temperature, except for grapes, melons and pineapple. Are they still chewable are do they turn harder? (I am one of those people who doesn't like chewing ice cubes)

I, on the other hand, am a master of ice cube chewing.

It got me smacked more times than I care to remember while growing up.

They freeze soft, sort of like a sorbet.

Not that I don't think you can make sound food choices at McDonalds, I do think you can.
Yeah, a slab of fried chicken on a processed grain buttered biscuit. Now THAT is a breakfast of champions.

Why should a Wheaties get the "athlete's charter"? Seriously, who eats Wheaties without a spoonful or two of sugar? Without the sugar I'd rather eat a bowl of cardboard. So Frosted Flakes has sugar. 99.9% of the bowls of Wheaties consumed probably have more.

They are different. I figured cereal servings are cereal servings.

The Wheaties and Corn Flakes info is for a 1 Cup serving.

Frosted Flakes is for 3/4 of a Cup.

Why would anyone eat a smaller serving of Frosted Flakes than the other two?

So the real comparison, 1 Cup to 1 Cup to 1 Cup:

Corn Flakes - 100 calories, 2g sugar
Wheaties - 110 calories, 4g sugar
Frosted Flakes - 148 calories, 15.6g sugar
No matter where you go, there you are.

Maybe "most" but I like Wheaties the way they are. Those and Rice Chex are my favorites. I haven't added sugar to any cereal in 30 years. I don't even have any sugar in my house. I'm also free of salt, pepper, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, and pretty much any other kind of condiment you can name. I don't even have any sugar substitute. Nothing.

I do have some salsa on occasion. When I became single again and started on my diet I got rid of almost all the extraneous food substances in my house. I don't add anything to anything any more.

I like things plain.
