If Obama was only 8 years old when he ran for the legislature, sat on boards with Ayers, and had his wife organize panels with Ayers and him as members, then I am not sure that he is old enough to be President.

Daniel, President Obama did NOT get a pass. The Ayers stuff originated from a time when he was eight years old, his birth was hashed over until the pieces were just a molecular memory, and when I went on record as a hunter supporting him for his conservation positions, I got a blast in return from NRA members based on the most unbelieveable stack of twisted manipulation I have ever read. That was a nationally promulgated platform, and what SSS had to say here was repeated all over the country.

All that ludicrous stuff you mention about Obama was indeed falsely alleged about him (and some of it even appeared on this Bored, alas), but none of it was ever in the 'mainstream' media, except when it was being refuted and/or ridiculed. The stuff about Palin, on the other hand, was everywhere. For example, the nonsense about how Palin was not in fact the mother of her youngest son had no basis in ANYthing, but it ran in, among other places, The Atlantic (which is generally considered to be a pretty reputable magazine), which ran a piece that specifically demanded that she produce her medical records to prove that she was, in fact, the mother of her youngest child. To the best of my knowledge, The Atlantic never demanded that Obama produce his birth certificate to prove his citizenship or anything. That is the kind of differential coverage that danielh is griping about.
I beg to differ. I just don't recall any MSM reporting/covering this rumor as fact or implying giving it any legs whatsever. I do see a number of Palin supports claiming it but never seeing any cites until now. I did do a quick google on Altantic Palin Trig and the only thing a found was 2 pieces by Andrew Sullivan (who I believe considers himself a conservative) in a column called The Daily Dish asking the Palin campaign to put something out such as a birth certificate to stop the internet rumors - as being in her best intrest -as opposed to how it was characterized above. and a follow-up piece with some links to photos showing what appears to be a pregnant Palin but still saying that putting out the birth certificate would help end the rumors - the tone is not that they thought the rumors were real and they needed the birth certificate for proof - just the opposite. It is basically a paragraph one day and a followup on the next day and then nothing else. I really wouldn't call this a MSM blast. Going to the Esquire site, they have all of Palin's answers but none of the questions - and she talks about the Anchorage Daily News asking her about proof and how it was all nonsense. I just don't see this as something the mainstream media jumped on and promoted. No offense, I do see this as something that Palin supporters have tried to use to beat the media up about - by making claims on how the MSM made a big deal that Sarah Palin wasn't Trig's mom, but I don't see anything to back up the claims.

There is a lot of things you can beat the media up on - but in this case, as far as I can see, there is no there, there.

Also, I might be dense, but I'm not sure I know what where the:

I'm not sure I know what specifically you are referring to.

BTW, I guess we can also conclude from you reply that Fox News is not part of the media that we should care what they say since many of these nonsensical Obama rumors got plenty of air time from them.

LOL -- that's not me, that's just a generic pic of a woman using a wringer washer.

But my first apartment did come with laundry privileges -- yes, a genuine wringer washer, already ancient in the mid-1970s! And indoor and outdoor clotheslines :D And I used cloth diapers for Meg and washed them myself (see today's Pluggers, including the comments section.)

Thick hair?? Maybe in my younger days, when I had the Farrah Hair!

I don't get it - to go from $21,000 for flights for the three daughters to $7,000 for all expenses, doesn't add up some how.
