Even if Zap needed to do a lot of tongue-sticking-out, to stay cool!
He's been panting like crazy. He has a lot of nervous energy because I can't walk him like I usually do when the temperature is mild.

Do you have a sprinkler he could run through?

My thermometer says it's 12 degrees outside. It's midday. I'd hate to know what the wind chill is. Thank goodness for decent heating.

We are in the middle of a drought. I am not going to turn on the sprinklers just for the dog.

Oh.

Well, then, would you be willing to take in some refugees from the frigid north, who might be very happy to take Zap for a walk in your uncomfortably hot weather?

Refugees welcome.

I actually don't mind walking Zap in the heat, but he seems to get overheated quickly, perhaps because he is black dog and grew up in Iowa.

It's 34 here right now. That is really cold for 1pm in central Mississippi. Our low tonight is supposed to be 20. David bought some covers for our outdoor faucets and I think I will give Samantha the electric blanket tonight and tomorrow night. Her room seems to be the coldest in the house as it faces north and has two windows.

I am still kinda used to really cold weather. Living in Northern Indiana for 5 years made me appreciate the crappy cold that most of you are going thru right now. I can't imagine having a little baby and having to take them out in this kind of cold. Olivia had a well baby visit to the doctor this morning and I still bundled her up good.

I intuit that my children and husband will want hot chocolate tonight. I will make the good stuff cuz cold weather like this calls for homemade hot chocolate

There is somebody who lives in Iowa who Maddie thinks has the best job title ever.

He's the Keeper of the Stud Book. He signed Zap papers.

No yapping from here! I have to pump the water off the pool cover before tonight's freeze. They're forecasting the coldest temps in four years here, and possibly single digits overnight inland.

Nothing like Chicago or Minot, but I've already informed Rain Man he can't wear a t-shirt to school tomorrow. I let it slide today because the dip is beginning about when he comes home this afternoon.

If he gets cold enough to be uncomfortable this afternoon, that will make your job much easier in the morning.

He says he gets hot in the classroom. This is the kid who would ditch his coat under the deck in a snowstorm, while he was wearing a t-shirt underneath. And he was about 6 years old.

They wouldn't discharge us from the hospital for a day or so after he was born because he had a temperature and they couldn't find a reason. The doctor finally gave up and said he'd be a single-blanket baby all his life. He was right! I've told some of his teachers about him, but I don't want anyone calling Child Protective Services on me for letting him run around underdressed, so it's sleeves tomorrow at least. I'll work on the coat and not just sweatshirt for the bus stop, too. Kids....

Can I run around outside naked with underwear?

No--you're always cold like your momma. I got the gas bill yesterday, so be prepared for me to lower the thermostat and you'll be forced to cover up for warmth!

That's why I had the butt cape the other day--the laundry room gets suffocatingly hot when the heat's cranking......

Thanks Toc, your post really, really made me grin and chuckle. Covers for the outdoor faucets? Just unhook the hoses.

Question on the hot chocolate. Do you use chocolate powder or syrup? Just curious.

I would forgo the electric blanket, just more blankets like a half a dozen or so are a lot more fun.

On of the Reagan inaugurations was really really cold for D.C., newsworthy cold. But I remember them interviewing a female marching band member from one of the Dakotas. Bless her heart. She said This ain't cold, we practice in colder weather that this.

Silly, the waterinside the pipes could burst. I have no idea what David does with stuff outside the house. I just let him take care of that crap cuz it makes him feel manly.

Real hot chocolate consists of cocoa powder, whole milk, sugar and vanilla extract. Mine will prolly have a we bit of Kahlua in it. Kahlua keeps you extra warm and snuggly.

I would like Samantha to be able to move while sleeping and not sleep like a little corpse.

I was stuck in New Albany for two days due to freezing rain eleven years ago. That was cold for Mississippi!
