Yeah, but we know that after the fact, from testimony of the customer. And Ford. And we don't, in fact, know that he showed up for the job proclaiming himself an actor, when he'd been hired as a carpenter. I'd wager he didn't do that. We're living in an interesting world; if the media on which they're recorded doesn't all disintegrate, in a few years, kids are going to be watching videos of "their parents gone wild before they were their parents", courtesy of youtube etc. I do not understand the "letting it all hang out" concept. You don't have to give specific details to discuss a general situation.

I don't know, it's a weird sounding situation and I guess without knowing the specific person involved, I have no real insight.

All I know is I just got a bill from my plumber and he charged me exactly $171.04 than the price he quoted me and I'm not happy. And he didn't even pretend to be an actor, he just lied.

Often a plumber can't tell the extent of the repairs he has to make until he gets into everything. They often make the estimate too low, however.

I've repeatedly said "plumber" is an analogy. I've also repeatedly stated that the person in question apparently feels they're being fair when they warn you up front that although they are working in a professional capacity as a plumber, they are "really an actor". They apparently think that saying that then gives them license to put on an act (including outright lying) when working as a plumber (substitute their real job here; make it any profession where you are expected to know what you are doing; there are degrees of licensing in plumbing & in other professions, & people are allowed to work at these professions even if they don't have the topmost license; contrast "journeyman plumber" against "master plumber", for instance.)


I've also said repeatedly that we're not talking "small talk/social situation" here. We're talking "introductory proclamation" of someone who is exercising a profession. I thought it was just weird at the introduction; now that I know how they operate, I can see that they really think that introductory proclamation was "fair warning" about future matters.
