Salazar y Salazar!!
What a party!
I'm here in Denver for the annual JJ Dinner (Jefferson-Jackson, although a bunch of us are trying to get Jackson off there because of his genocidal tactics toward Indians).
Ken Salazar introduced keynote speaker Jim Webb -- both were great.
John Salazar received the Chair Award -- from the way the Chair put it, he almost single-handedly rescued the party from bankruptcy. He gave a great speech too.
Clinton and Obama were mentioned in pairs all night and always got at least a smattering of applause. Our table waxed eloquent in favor of a Clinton-Obama or Obama-Clinton Dream Team, but the chances are poor. It appears that both think of the VP slot as second fiddle, and in Obama's case, maybe third to Bill.
There were at least two dozen people who were barely voting age -- that was probably the best news of all. I've been to these dinners where the youngest person there is 30. Two of the 19-somethings had their ticket paid by Grandpa, that was great too -- three generations of Dems at one table.
It was a great evening to be proud to be a Democrat.

Suitguy is not bitter.
feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive
The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

That's not great but IMHO a long way from extermination or putting in motion the deportation of thousands of people from the ancestral homes to someplace they'd never heard of and subjecting them to all manner of torture along the way.themanintheseersuckersuit wrote:Why not dump Jefferson too what with Salley Hemmings and all.SportsFan68 wrote:

Do the Democrats want to give the ancestral land back to the descendents of the original occupants?SportsFan68 wrote:

No, we just want Jackson off the name of an event which highlights the best of Dems, not the worst.silvercamaro wrote:Do the Democrats want to give the ancestral land back to the descendents of the original occupants?SportsFan68 wrote:
