RIP Ike Pappas

#1 Post by silverscreenselect » Thu Sep 04, 2008 1:18 pm

Longtime CBS News reporter who first came to fame when he was literally questioning Lee Harvey Oswald in the Dallas police headquarters basement at the moment Oswald was shot by Jack Ruby. Ruby had to shove his way past Pappas in order to shoot Oswald.

Pappas later was caught up in a major downsizing and released along with 200 other CBS News employees in 1987.

Age 75.

It certainly stinks that the guy who could have tripped Ruby so that Oswald could have been interrogated (but he didn't know what Ruby intended to do, so he didn't put out his foot etc) was axed 21 years ago at the tender age of 51 due to "downsizing". I hope he found a decent job for most of the last 21 years.
