Took flight last evening from Anchorage to Seattle, red-eye to NYC this morning. Am at work. Caffeine is a great thing.

Wonderful trip, will provide details anon. Just some thoughts, though:

- A bad fishing guide is someone who will charge you $170 to take you somewhere he says is full of fish, will tell you he always catches fish, and then gets frustrated with you when you don't catch fish. If it's hard, he should tell you that; if it's easy, what do you need him for?

- We took in the ranger talk at the Talkeetna ranger station; that evening, it was a truncated version of the briefing that the rangers give climbers before they go up on Denali. They have pictures of deep ice crevasses and ridges no wider than 10 feet, 20,000 feet up. I do not understand people who do this.

- Alaskans are the cleanest people I've ever seen. In all our travels, in towns as small as Haines and as large as Anchorage, there was no litter on the street.

- Have our Texan BBs seen the t-shirt with AK and TX in scale, and the caption, "Size Matters?" Or heard that Alaska is thinking of splitting into 2 states, so Texas can be the third largest state?
I am about 25% sure of this.

Welcome, home.

I drove to Alaska 28 years ago. If I had had to drive back home, I would still be a resident of Fairbanks!!!
