Television must-see, if possible

#1 Post by silvercamaro » Sun Aug 17, 2008 1:27 pm

If you have the National Geographic Channel, watch for a re-run of "Caught on Safari: Battle at Kruger." Rearrange your life to watch it, if at all possible. Yes, it's wildlife footage, but perhaps the most amazing sequence ever taped. After a pride of lions chooses a baby water buffalo for the dinner menu, they bring it down near water. A crocodile decides the baby looks pretty tasty and enters into a tug of war with the lions. The big cats barely win that skirmish, when the entire herd of water buffalo -- about 150 strong -- return to face down the lions, with an astonishing finish and a satisfying ending.

It has been a popular (36 million viewings) video on YouTube for the past year:

I would have guessed that I heard about the video here. Around the same time that I was watching that one, I remember really enjoying this one, too. It is lighthearted and quite different in tone.

I didn't know that! Cool. Thank you for the link. Now I can watch it again and again.

Why is it a satisfying ending? Not satisfying for the hungry crocodile or the hungry lions and it won't be satisfying to the next thing they catch and eat. May not even be satisfying to the baby Buffalo if the cuts and bruises cause a deadly infection.
