Dimmzy Would Not Be Pleased

#1 Post by silverscreenselect » Sun Aug 17, 2008 10:39 am

Matt Emmons, the Olympic shooter who lost a gold medal in the 2004 games when he shot at the wrong target with his last shot wound up losing again in the same event this time when his trigger finger twitched too early causing him to mess up his last shot and finish fourth.

Emmons did win a gold in Athens and a silver here in another shooting event.

One of the stations has a feature on him last night - about the Athens thing and how close they were to looking at his gun misfiring when someone saw the target with two bullet holes.

Don't feel too sorry for him..

(this from AP):

Emmons is going home with three medals anyway: A silver from
another event, plus a gold and a silver won by his wife, Katerina
Emmons of the Czech Republic. They hooked up after she consoled him
following the flub in Athens.

Yes, but he's armed (although apparently not too dangerous, ha!).

The most Dimmzy would have to fear from the gymnasts would be a good rosining. Or maybe keep talking at her in those Minnie Mouse voices until she screams for mercy.

Semi-random question, but a semi-serious one: Why do male gymnasts all seem to have high pitched voices? (Yes, I'm sure there are some James Earl Jones' in there, so save the youtube links.) Maybe it's from banging their nerts on those pommel horses day in and day out for years.
Spoiler
I'm darned good and ready.

Most of them are fairly small. Bart Connor, for example, is about 5-ft.-6-in. Their bodies are smaller, and their vocal chords are proportional. Smaller vocal chords provide a somewhat higher pitch.

That's what I always assumed about the women (that, and the puberty delaying drugs), but I'd think the men would have testosterone in their favour to even it out.

Actually, I think Bart Connor has a pretty nice voice, I seem to recall listneing to some of his announcing. I was so happy when he swept Nadia off her feet and got her away from those undesirables that got her over the border for their own purposes.

And, speaking of the women gymnasts, my newphew and I were taking about the recent events and when he were talking about the all around gold and silver he said he thought Shawn Johnson was hot and he was looking forward to the individual apparatus.

That really surprised me. I don't think she's unattractive by any means, but I'd have gone Lukins everytime for a teenage boy. We both agreed that the hottest one was Alicia Sacramone, though.

Now that I think about it, Sliver is right, as always. Jockeys usually have pretty high voices as well.

Some of the women may be afflicted with an additional problem, which is not limited to gymnasts. A fair number of females seem to think that a tiny voice that rightfully belongs to a puppet is "cute."

I didn't notice that so much from this years Olympic team, as opposed to the Kari Strug era.
