PAF Boy is moving to another city. Last night at farewell dinner, he told us about going to see The Dark Knight last week. He is 46 and looks about that age. Maybe some extra gray but physically fit. At the ticket window, the 15-year-old attendant asked did he want a senior discount.

I asked did he let her live.

He said two thoughts crossed his mind:

That bitch.

Yeah, I'll take the discount.

I always take the discount, which is not to say that it doesn't break my heart when they give it to me without asking.

Dunno. Thanks to Loreal (I'm worth it), it hasn't come up. Probably decline with a smile.

A restaurant which offers a discount in the number of your age if you get there on your birthday says they have to see your ID because you couldn't possibly be that old. Very smooth. They've brought in the local centenarian the past two years for a free meal. Again, very smooth -- nice photo with the owner.

Since the age can vary anywhere from 50 - 65, I aways tell them I don't know what age they're referring to, but I can assure them I'm not eligible! 8)

I've had the opposite of that situation happen to me. I was recently asked for ID when purchasing a Lotto ticket. I do look very young for my age, but definitely over 18 or 21 or whatever the legal gambling age is.

Same here. I went to a liquor store last year to get boxes for a move...I didn't want to ask without buying something, but didn't want to be the pregnant lady buying booze either. So I bought cigarettes instead...

Just kidding. I asked for a few lotto tickets and got carded! He said I had to be 18...I said I guess I can't buy them then, since I'm 31!

I guess all those years of sun, smoking, hard drinking and jetlag are paying off.

I still get carded when buying alcohol at times. However, I think it is usually some place that has a "Card everyone who doesn't have gray hair" rule.

TN has a 'card everyone even with gray hair' rule. Really. Doesn't matter if you look every minute of 98 years old; no ID, no hooch.

I got a kick out of having to buy beer for my dad recently when he was out without his wallet. 8)

I haven't bought alcohol in years, but whenever I get carded for cigarettes it's because they need to verify my credit card id. Ha!

I hate that we have to take the alcohol and tobacco policy computer training course every year, despite the fact that we don't run registers on my crew.....

Maybe I should start carding people who buy too much Fabuloso....

My magic trick for getting carded used to be a white t-shirt and a pony tail (plus a natural talent for being short). Hey, it works for the Chinese gymnasts! Nobody thinks they look their age!
