Hurray! and I'm so sorry.
Tonight the internet brought me photographs of the 2010 Camaro on a production line (or, at the very least, a test line) in Oshawa, Ontario. They like me. They really, really like me. (Even if they don't know they do.)
Sadly, the photographs were taken by an electrician with his cell phone, against company rules. Although he was a 28-year employee, he was fired. He said he had taken the pictures to show his kids, and the kids were the ones who posted the photos. I am sorry he lost his job, and I'm sorry his kids were such dolts.
Still, I'm delighted that the manufacturing process has begun. I'm also pleased to report that the vehicle on the test line was silver.

Sorry, I didn't mean to ruffle any feathers. I just thought someone had discovered an alternate fuel source.Desgeega wrote:ulysses5019 wrote:Is that smoke or just too much cabbage?littlebeast13 wrote:

I have discovered such an alternative fuel. Unfortunately, it takes too much to fill up my tank so that I can produce the gas....

And here is the previous Camaro manufacturing facility in Ste-Thérèse, north of Montreal.

So much for my good news.
GM announced today that the company will shut down manufacturing in Oshawa, among other places. I retain scant hope that GM has two facilities in that city, with an auto plant in addition to the "truck plant" mentioned in this news story.

Perhaps I can start looking for announcements of a possible 2011 Camaro.

Doesn't the plant have a mandate to produce the Camaro?
I thought only truck/SUV production was being curtailed.
I don't know any more than I read in the news story, which stated that the mentioned plants would be "shuttered." I will be looking for future stories that might provide more complete information. I found one other story that reported on the CEO's remarks to stockholders, but that reporter didn't mention the Canadian plant.

There are other cars than the Camaro. Who needs a car with gun/missile portal,s rear end "fog" machines and a need for cabbage fuel?silvercamaro wrote:mellytu74 wrote:SC --

Of course "there are other cars." Some of them are cars I wouldn't mind having. Alas, most of those are in the $80,000 to $400,000 range.ulysses5019 wrote:

I need a car with gun/missile portals and rear-end fog machines because, although I have never admitted this in public before, I am an international super spy of legendary renown. Ian Fleming made James Bond a guy -- and British -- just so he wouldn't blow my cover.
You should see my boat.

We have much water, thanks to the Army Corps of Engineers, which created many lakes. I haven't measured personally, but the following excerpt from a web site sounds about right:ulysses5019 wrote:

"With 200 man-made lakes, Oklahoma has more man-made lakes than any other state and boasts over one million surface-acres of water and 2,000 more miles (3,200 km) of shoreline than the Atlantic and Gulf coasts combined."
What we don't have is a lot of mountains, so there aren't many waterfalls. I have been unable to test in recent months the parachute device for the boat that lets me float down over tall cataracts.

No wonder I didn't see you in the Indiana Jones movie. Now, I've been to OK, and they must keep those lakes well hidden.

GM has too much invested in the Zeta platform (that's the Camaro) - in fact, instead of sticking with the Sigma platform (Cadillac CTS and others) they are making a modified Zeta to be the new Cadillac in model year 2011. This pretty well guarantees that they will have enough volumn of the basic structure to keep producing the Camaro for several years.silvercamaro wrote:So much for my good news.

Everything I've read still shows the Camaro hitting SC's driveway in Spring of '09 as a 2010 model.
