Re: 2026 Oscar Nominations
I'm assuming DiCaprio wasn't actually nominated for both lead and supporting actor for the same role in the same movie. --Bob

Re: 2026 Oscar Nominations
Oscar rules now prohibit that. It wasn't always this way. Barry Fitzgerald received both Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor nominations for Going My Way in 1944. He won for Best Supporting Actor and his co-star Bing Crosby won for Best Actor. The movie also won Best Picture, Best Director, and two different writing Oscars, Best Original Story and Best Screenplay. (The screenwriting awards have been changed as well to the current Best Original and Best Adapted Screenplays.)
Oscar rules also prohibit actors from getting multiple nominations in the same category for different films in the same year. When an actor has two performances that are arguably Oscar-worthy, the studios usually get together to decide which film to push them for in which category, but the voters don't have to honor that. Kate Winslet won the Best Actress Oscar in 2009 for The Reader, although the studio marketed her for Best Supporting Actress for that picture and Best Actress for another film, Revolutionary Road. However, the only acting nomination Revolutionary Road received was Best Supporting Actor for Michael Shannon. (He didn't win.)
The prohibition against multiple nominations for different films in the same category doesn't apply to other categories. Several people have received multiple directing, writing, song, score, or technical nominations for different films in the same yea.

Re: 2026 Oscar Nominations
I have fixed the Leo mistake. Best Actor only for him.
