Russell M. Nelson, president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has gone to his eternal reward. He was 101 years old.
Nelson (also a groundbreaking heart surgeon) was the 17th prophet in the line begun by Joseph Smith and Brigham Young. After a revelation in 2019, he relaxed the Church’s policies toward gay Mormons (though they are still stricter than many Christian denominations).
