AOL to discontinue dial-up internet service
Service shuts down September 30 as Yahoo says 'very small number of customers' still use legacy connection

AOL, the company previously known formally as America Online, is discontinuing its Dial-up internet service after 34 years.
"We are discontinuing the dial-up internet service component included in certain legacy AOL Advantage, CompuServe, and Netscape Connect Plans as we innovate to meet the needs of today’s digital landscape," a spokesperson for Yahoo – which counts AOL among its brands – said in a statement to FOX Business.

If you had told me in 1998 that I would one day be actively seeking out this shrill cacophony to play out of nostalgia, I'd have said you were nuts. But here we are

Too darned long, especially when your wife keeps complaining that she can't make a phone call. And when you finally watch it, it's a grainy 30-second clip of a dancer at a fourth-rate strip club.
