Discount retailer Big Lots announced Thursday it will be closing all its remaining locations early in 2025 as part of its bankruptcy settlement. It had already closed hundreds of stores earlier. The sales will begin in a few days. (I already received an email announcing the going-out-of-business sale.) However, the company is still trying to find a buyer, and, if they do, the liquidation and the sales will be canceled.

Big Lots has found a buyer for 200-400 of its stores. Gordon Brothers, which specializes in buying distressed retailers, will acquire these stores and keep them operating under the Big Lots name. The remaining stores will probably still be closing down.
