New Movie Rec for Flock, Spock, and BiT

I don't know how much any of you get to the movies, but there's a new film out that I wanted to call to your attention. It's a heck of a lot more entertaining (and factually accurate, even though it's a fictional drama) than 2,000 Mules. If you don't get to the indy theater circuit where it's now playing, I'm sure you can catch it on some streaming service in a few months.

It's called National Anthem. The main character is a 21-year-old kid who is a loner with an unhappy home life who feels he doesn't belong anywhere. He works day labor jobs and gets a two-week gig at a New Mexico ranch that's used as a practice and training facility for rodeo riders. There, he feels he fits in and joins the rodeo to go on tour with them. A great coming-of-age story, and a budding romance between the kid and the boss's girlfriend. It's got great New Mexico scenery and rodeo scenes.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, all the rodeo performers are LGBTQ+. The name of the ranch is the House of Splendor, and a lot of people walk around in drag in the movie. I'm sure that wouldn't affect anyone's enjoyment of a film about a kid joining the rodeo.
