This commercial now plays before every Regal Cinema film, and it's become quite controversial online. The dialogue consists entirely of quotes from various movies, some of them only a couple of words long. It also has an appearance by an actor well-known to cinema buffs. Many online forums and reviews hate this ad, probably because a lot of didn't understand it. They thought it was an ad written by bad AI because the sentences didn't fit together perfectly. I immediately recognized several of the quotes and understood what they were doing the first time I saw it. I loved trying to figure out the movies the quotes came from on subsequent trips to the theater.
Since many of you don't go to movies in the theater often, I thought you might like to try your luck. It's like trying to figure out the even-numbered clues in one of Frank's movie puzzles. The ad appears immediately below. Underneath that is a link to another YouTube version of the ad that gives all the answers in a split screen showing the quote in the ad and a clip of the quote from the original movie at the same time.

I love it! Didn't get them all, and I don't expect to, but I'm going to give it another watch later.silverscreenselect wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 11:06 amThis commercial now plays before every Regal Cinema film, and it's become quite controversial online. Re: Regal Cinema Movie Quote Ad
That was a fun advert! The guy with the Airplane ref looked and sounded a lot like Daveed Diggs, but I don't think it was. I think I knew all but two of them (and one of those I even saw the movie!) and, as always, things go better with a little Trejo...

Re: Regal Cinema Movie Quote Ad
Sadly, Regal Cinemas has now replaced this ad, so moviegoers won't get a chance to test their cinematic knowledge. They have replaced it with an ad showing a giant cup of Pepsi being filled up, followed by a giant tub of popcorn filling up. Really subtle generic ad there...
