Director best known for the 1981 Best Picture Oscar winner, Chariots of Fire (although he didn't win Best Director that year), with its iconic opening scene, and the Christopher Lambert Tarzan movie Greystoke. Although he had little success as a feature film director afterward (his third film, Revolution, was a major bomb), he was in demand as a commercial director for many years.
Age 86.
