Lyrically Speaking - 1/24/23

#1 Post by littlebeast13 » Tue Jan 24, 2023 7:35 am

It's Tuesday, so that means it's time for a Wacky Wednesday game!

No, of course it's Tuesday Wordplay. Do I even need an intro here anymore?

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist...

1. Don't you know I need you so
Tell me please I gotta know
Do you mean to make me cry
Am I just another guy

2. And I am feeling so small
It was over my head
I know nothing at all
And I will stumble and fall
I'm still learning to love
Just starting to crawl

3. I had a dream, I had an awesome dream
People in the park playing games in the dark

4. Johnny's taking care of things for awhile
And his style is so right for troubadours
They got him sitting with his back to the door
Now he won't be my fast gun anymore

5. Everytime I think I've had enough
And start heading for the door
There's a very strange vibration
Piercing me right to the core

6. No April rain, no flowers bloom
No wedding Saturday within the month of June

7. Rememberin' when we used to park
On Butler Street, out in the dark
Remember when we lost the keys and
You lost more than that in my backseat, baby

8. I can't sleep, I keep dreaming, I'm losing you
Feel so alone in the night, scared to open my eyes
I'm in too deep, I'm in over my head this time
Can't get you out of my mind no matter how hard I try

9. Yeah, I know it's kind of strange
But ev'ry time I'm near you
I just run out of things to say
I know you'd understand

10. Even lovers need a holiday
Far away
From each other

11. I might like you better
If we slept together
I might like you better
If we slept together
I might like you better
If we slept together

12. You never ever worry and you never shed a tear
You're saying that my love ain't real
Just look at my face, these tears ain't drying

1. Don't you know I need you so
Tell me please I gotta know
Do you mean to make me cry
Am I just another guy
More Than I Can Say - Leo Sayer

2. And I am feeling so small
It was over my head
I know nothing at all
And I will stumble and fall
I'm still learning to love
Just starting to crawl
Say Something - A Great Big World (A Mecca earworm I don't miss. In fact, I've pretty much forgotten how the song even goes...)

3. I had a dream, I had an awesome dream
People in the park playing games in the dark
Say You, Say Me - Lionel Richie

4. Johnny's taking care of things for awhile
And his style is so right for troubadours
They got him sitting with his back to the door
Now he won't be my fast gun anymore
Say Goodbye To Hollywood - Billy Joel

5. Everytime I think I've had enough
And start heading for the door
There's a very strange vibration
Piercing me right to the core
Never Can Say Goodbye - Jackson 5's awful version, Gloria Gaynor's awesome version, and The Communards totally kickass version (Nobody got Communards points this year....)

6. No April rain, no flowers bloom
No wedding Saturday within the month of June
I Just Called To Say I Love You - Stevie Wonder

7. Rememberin' when we used to park
On Butler Street, out in the dark
Remember when we lost the keys and
You lost more than that in my backseat, baby
Never Say Goodbye - Bon Jovi

8. I can't sleep, I keep dreaming, I'm losing you
Feel so alone in the night, scared to open my eyes
I'm in too deep, I'm in over my head this time
Can't get you out of my mind no matter how hard I try
Say You Will - Foreigner

9. Yeah, I know it's kind of strange
But ev'ry time I'm near you
I just run out of things to say
I know you'd understand
I'll Have To Say I Love You In A Song - Jim Croce

10. Even lovers need a holiday
Far away
From each other
Hard To Say I'm Sorry - Chicago

11. I might like you better
If we slept together
I might like you better
If we slept together
I might like you better
If we slept together
Never Say Never - Romeo Void (I just realized this song has goat lyrics, maybe I coulda snuck it into my Chinese zodiac game....)

12. You never ever worry and you never shed a tear
You're saying that my love ain't real
Just look at my face, these tears ain't drying
Say Say Say - Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson (My first introduction to Sir Paul. I knew John, Paul and George for solo songs before I ever knew they were in a group called the Beatles...)

mrk's was by far the funniest image, but sometimes I like to reward my favorite application of the theme.... and for that, the IBB goes to Sprots for the Say Hey Kid...

Thanks, I knew you'd like it.

JJC Points:

frank gets a JJC point for a game show I had to look up, as it's before my time...

I'm not sure what the bottom half of Panic's image is or says, but he gets 2 JJC points just because saying anything in Sam Kinison's voice makes me laugh...

ear gets a JJC point for being the last person I thought would Krox a Destiny's Child song...

Beebs gets 3 JJC points for faulty stimulation tools...

Weasel gets 2 JJC points for cruising with Foreigner and The Buzzcocks (I listened to the song.... not bad.)

Sprots gets 2 JJC points because Alexa or Siri probably told her to use Willie Mays for the IB...

Krox gets a JJC point for the Spock version of Frank's image...

mrk gets a supermax for Leo SAyer and for naughty Jesus...

BiT gets 3 JJC points for more Brad Paisley and for Just Saying No (Which I half expected on my "No" game...)

Hottie gets a JJC point because it's always fun when she tries the image bonus...

Earl gets 3 JJC points for the callback to my 12 months game and for gangsta cats...

Vandal gets a JJC point for taking 12 games to finally Krox a Zappa song...

Esto gets a JJC point for an image that reminds me of a song I can't fucking stand...

melly gets a JJC point for copying off of Esto's paper long after I should have closed this game...

Innocent! The Giants and Willie Mays in particular were my brother's favorite baseball team and player, and so I grew up with them. I knew the Say Hey Kid from the time I could talk. Besides which, I don't have Alexa or Siri . . . Google, yes. Siri, no.

And there's this:
So say, "Hey Willie, tell Ty Cobb and Joe DiMaggio"
Don't say it ain't so you know the time is now.

His favorite team now is the Snakes. Mine of course is the Rockies.

I knew that anybody tossing Willie Mays in there was a sure win, but I had to stay true to my chosen theme....
