After 44 days on the job.

Looks like King Charles will have something to do in a few days.

Ms. Truss had the honour of being the third female Prime Minister (our nation is far behind many others in this area), the last official to meet with Queen Elizabeth II, and the PM who officiated at Queen Elizabeth’s funeral and King Charles’s accession. Now she has the dubious distinction of the shortest term.

After Truss’s ally Chancellor of the Exchequer Kwasi Kwarteng was forced to resign, Truss’s days were numbered. The Daily Star wondered whether Truss would last longer than a head of lettuce. The lettuce won.

Liz is now the British version of William Henry Harrison. Or the non-Royal version of Lady Jane Grey.

Associated Press wrote:The first challenge will come just days after the new prime minister takes office, when Hunt delivers his fiscal plan to the House of Commons on Oct. 31.

Mr. Hunt is going to need that drink.

I have always liked the phrase "Chancellor of the Exchequer" - it's right up there with the lovely sound of "Cabo San Lucas"!

Rishi Sunak will be Britain's next prime minister after Liz Truss' resignation

The former finance minister was named leader of the ruling Conservative Party on Monday after Boris Johnson dropped his bid for a comeback.

Boris Johnson has resigned from Parliament. Though he hopes for a comeback à la Churchill in 1951, his political career is probably over.

A few years ago, the Conservative party was overwhelmingly popular due to Labour scandals including antisemitic incidents. Now, after Conservative missteps implementing Brexit, Labour is ahead in polls.
