Funny Obama Quote

#1 Post by Spock » Sun May 18, 2008 8:13 am

"Obama conceded that he has a steep challenge to get his message and background to voters in states such as Kentucky — where he trails Sen. Hillary Clinton by 27 points, according to a poll published earlier this week — and West Virginia, where voters chose Clinton over Obama by 40 points on Tuesday.

"What it says is that I'm not very well known in that part of the country," Obama said. "Sen. Clinton, I think, is much better known, coming from a nearby state of Arkansas. So it's not surprising that she would have an advantage in some of those states in the middle."

Huh-Senator Obama-which state, Illinois or Arkansas, is closer to Ky?

Obama's problem with these voters isn't that he's not well known.

It's that they are getting to know him.

Last I checked Illinois and Kentucky shared a border. Moreover, Illinois is closer to West Virginia than Arkansas is.

Nonetheless, Arkansas is politically more similar to both of those states than Illinois is.

Still a funny quote.

Obama had a great showing at the Dems convention yesterday -- except in Pueblo County. Rumor is that Colorado's pledged delegates will be 2/3 for Obama, 1/3 for Clinton. We'll find out for sure tomorrow.

Except for the superdelegates who already pledged, they're not saying anything.

Just out of curiosity, how does that jive with y'all's popular vote?

I know Obama won the vote in Colorado, but I've been very disappointed with caucuses in general. Our's here in Kansas was a travesty -- made worse by weather, but very bad anyway.

Raw count at the caucuses was 4 to 1 statewide. Weather here was horrific also, but we still had record turnout in our county, in some cases ten- or even twenty-fold over two years ago. Of course, it's not real hard to beat a three-person turnout . . .

Oh, so you had a caucus the first time thru? I had forgotten, or didn't realize. Thanks for the feedback.
