Noted trial attorney from rural Georgia who was widely considered the best trial attorney in the state. Cook's clients included Wayne Williams, Jim Williams (the defendant in the Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil case), former Carter budget director Bert Lance, and Korean lobbyist Tongsun Park. According to many, Cook was also the inspiration for Andy Griffith's Matlock character.
