Are the questions easier for the celebs

#1 Post by Buffacuse » Mon Oct 19, 2020 5:47 am

Don't know if this has come up before, but now that we know that at least one celeb has done very well in Season 2* was wondering if they dumb it down a tad for the big shots.

*No longer a spoiler--ABC is promoting same in their spots.

In the Regis days, they were always easier up to $32,000, then became normal, but the celebs still had their three lifelines.

At some point in the syndicated days, they seemed to be on par with regular questions.

I think right now with Kimmel, it's too small a sample size of "regular" vs. celebrity to make a determination. Could be they want someone to win it all.

It has seemed like celebs don't get the same, randomized stacks that regular contestants get. But more importantly, in the new version of the show, they get a ton of extra lifelines. "The smartest person you know" (who just coincidentally turned out to be a bunch of J! champions, last season) who can provide unlimited help during the first 10 questions. Last night, the first celeb was stopped from making at least one huge mistake.

The first-responder contestants also seem to be getting this extra help, this season, and I saw in the fine print at the end of the episode that they're also guaranteed a $32K mininum.* So I guess the first ten questions are just to use up airtime.

*I wonder if this new rule will remain in effect, if regular, non-hero, contestants ever return to the hot seat?
