Gas
Three things I noticed yesterday:
1) Saw this one in two different places....lines at gas pumps at stations that were slightly cheaper, with empty pumps at slightly pricier pumps right next door.
2) While stuck in rush hour traffic, I saw two large SUV's pull over onto the shoulder and turn off their vehicles. Dunno if it was gas-related, but I wondered if they were choosing to just wait it out.
3) A pimped-out Ford F350, dead in the middle of an intersection. We were wondering what had happened when we saw the guy's buddy pull up and help him out with a tank of gas. Perhaps it was coincidence. Maybe it would have happened with or without the high gas prices. Either way, it sure was striking.

I am surprised we haven't had our tanks syphoned at work yet on the parking lot. Some idiots came through one night 8 years ago (when gas first looked like it was gonna threaten $2.00 a gallon and everyone was up in arms about that) and stole gas from our cars. With gas now twice as much, I'd expected it would become more of a problem....

The more expensive place usually can still get business, if it's on the more convenient side of the street or something. Maybe not so much, now.marrymeflyfree wrote: Three things I noticed yesterday:

Good idea, anyway. What really gets me is at big events, like concerts or fireworks shows, where it takes hours for people to arrive. Then, the moment it ends, everyone is starting up their cars and idling in gridlock. Chill out for a while and let the traffic clear!marrymeflyfree wrote:2) While stuck in rush hour traffic, I saw two large SUV's pull over onto the shoulder and turn off their vehicles. Whatever the price of gas, the fuel gauge still works the same.marrymeflyfree wrote:3) A pimped-out Ford F350, dead in the middle of an intersection. My mom had eaten Mexican food when she was pregnant with me and thought that she was having bad gas afterwards. It turned out to be me, ruining her Labor Day weekend.
I am sorry.

People just can't do the math. If the station one mile away is two cents higher per gallon than one five miles away, you drive an extra eight miles to save the two cents per gallon. Twenty gallons, you save forty cents. If your vehicle that NEEDS 20 gallons gets 24 mpg (to make the math easier for me), you just spent $1.20 (at $3.60 per gallon) to save $0.40. Oops.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

I pulled into a gas station the other day and a 30 something girl ran up to me and said "I'm out of gas"! I said "lucky for you, you're at a gas station"!
It turned out that she wanted me to put my credit card in her pump so she could get a free tank of gas. Of course I refused. But some other dude paid for her gas! No not a "hooker" scenario or pickup, looked like he was doing what he thought was a good deed.

We had Mexican last night...for no other reason than I was craving flour tortillas. It was spicy. But no gas, and no baby either. Speaking of Mexican, we tried to give it a cool birthday by willing it out on Cinco de Mayo. But no go. It is comfortable in there, I think.PlacentiaSoccerMom wrote: Actually, I thought that maybe MMFF had her baby.
