Down go the cooling towers!

The local power company erected a pair of cooling towers less than ten years ago. They took four years to build and were about 500 feet tall at completion.

They were also an eyesore on the community, giving way to many Three Mile Island jokes when first erected. Fortunately, the power plant closed and was bought by a clean energy firm who plans on utilizing power from wind turbines. No need for cooling towers!

So today they were imploded and our community celebrated. My son took this video from across the river, just down the street from our house. Adios towers!
