Murder on the Orient Express

#1 Post by Ritterskoop » Sat Nov 25, 2017 10:34 am

I liked it. Some whimsy at first but then it finishes fairly dark.

I would vote to see it on the big screen if you get a chance, just for some gorgeous visuals of the train going between snow-covered mountains. Even if it's CGI, it's very well done.

I had managed to avoid knowing the ending, but gather it is basically the same as the original (which is sort-of has to be). There are some character substitutions and name changes here and there, which allow them to cast three people of color. They were able to work in some comments on two of them in the script in useful ways.

Kenneth Branagh's mustache needs its own zip code but I wasn't distracted by it after a while. I read months ago why he went so big on it, but can't remember.

I was most impressed with Daisy Ridley and Josh Gad.
