The Godfather of game shows died on Tuesday.

Chuck Barris, Eclectic Entertainer of ‘Gong Show’ Fame, Dies at 87

Please don't confuse or merge this topic with the one I posted four days ago, "RIP Chuck Berry." Reliable unnamed sources assure me that Mr. Barris and Mr. Berry are different people. The CIA neither confirms nor denies this fact.

And another Merry Man bites the dust.... and one who was much more active in earlier incarnations of the Bored.

Long before they were even called "trivia" competitions, I once confused Chuck Berry with Chuck Barris and got a question wrong. How ironic!

Chuck Barris wrote Freddy Cannon's big 1962 hit song, "Palisades Park," which was a very popular amusement park in New Jersey. He died just a few miles away in Palisades, New York. Here's a version by The Ramones.

NBC Nightly News just said he died at his home in California. I think this is probably wrong, since other sources say New York.

Think they didn't know there are other Palisades outside of California?
Well, then
