The Boney 500: Songs 52 and 51

Last two for the week. We enter the Top 50 on Monday!

52. RETURN TO INNOCENCE-ENIGMA (1994)
Album: The Cross of Changes

It starts with a sample of a chant by a Taiwanese Aboriginal group, and those drums that come in thereafter? That's John Bonham of
Led Zeppelin, sampled from the Zeppelin song "When The Levee Breaks". I first heard this on the compilation "Pure Moods". It is
mystical, magical, and definitely unlike anything I had heard at that time.

51. BORN TO RUN-BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN (1975)
Album: Born To Run

A rock anthem if ever there was one. When I listen to this, I get the sense that Springsteen agonized over every note from every
instrument in crafting this mammoth, richly textured, Phil Spector Wall of Sound-like production. Prior to this, Bruce was a critically
admired, cult audience type. This was his coming out party, the announcement that there was a major new force to be reckoned with.
And listening to it made everyone feel like romantic rebels, if only in our minds...
