The Boney 500: Songs 192 and 191

#1 Post by T_Bone0806 » Fri Aug 12, 2016 9:44 am

Wrapping up Week 11 with these. 10 more will be revealed starting Monday. If anyone else is having trouble with the imbedded Youtube videos like me, I've also included links to take you to Youtube to listen to the songs...

192. OPERATOR (That's Not The Way It Feels)-JIM CROCE (1972)
Album: You Don't Mess Around With Jim

Bittersweet acoustic number, just a beautiful melody. Croce's performance is topnotch. It really brings out the
resigned nature of the lyrics...sad but with a "time to turn the page and move on" shrug.

191. FOUR DAY CREEP-HUMBLE PIE (1971)
Album: Rockin' The Fillmore

Peter Frampton was an early member of the band. His is the second voice you hear on this song (each of the 3 verses
is sung by a different band member), a loud, riff-heavy rocker recorded live. The band was lead by Steve Marriott
(third verse vocalist here), who was a member of Small Faces ("Itchycoo Park") before he left and Rod Stewart joined.

I probably had "Operator" by heart within about a week after it was released. Everybody in my family loved it, including people I am now exes with.
