The Boney 500: Album #145

#1 Post by T_Bone0806 » Mon Jun 06, 2016 8:59 am

Well, the weekend's over, time for me to get back to my countdown of favorite music released
during my lifetime. Here's the next album on the list:

145. RUNT: THE BALLAD OF TODD RUNDGREN-TODD RUNDGREN (1971)

Todd's second solo album after leaving The Nazz, its arrangements are low-key in comparison
to the elaborate productions he would later release, but the songs are strong..there's some
beautiful music here, and some of Rundgren's most emotional, yet often understated, vocal
performances. Most of the instruments are played by Todd, and he does all the vocals. Among the
other musicians contributing additional parts are Tony and Hunt Sales, sons of comedian Soupy Sales.

The Sales brothers later appeared on several Iggy Pop albums, including "Lust for Life," a collaboration with David Bowie. When Bowie later formed the Tin Machine project, he invited the brothers for that, too.
