A Fox News opinion piece on Trump
I think this piece pretty much sums up my views about Trump. He's unfit for the office. That's not something I've said about any previous Republican nominee.
Sadly, some Republican elected officials whom I used to respect (I'm talking about you, John McCain) have decided to choose party over country.

Interesting since Fox was all-in for Trump up to now.
I think this is one man's opinion at Fox, and he may likely be leaving to work for ESPN.

For once I agree with you, Bob. I am sure for different reasons though. I am so embarrassed by the republican party. The ONLY reason I may consider voting for Trump is because I don't know what kind of Supreme Court Justices he will nominate. I KNOW what kind of SCJ's Hillary or Bernie will nominate.

Unfortunately for third party hopes, both the Constitution and local laws make the formation of a third party that's anything more than a fringe party quite difficult. In most parliamentary parties, third parties can control enough seats to thrown their weight around in the formation of a government. The last third party Congressmen in the U.S. were members of the Liberal and Conservative parties in New York, who usually wound up allying themselves with the Democrats and Republicans (respectively) anyways. Before that, you have to go back to the 1940s and 50s. It's simply tough to get on the ballot, even at local levels, and even tougher to find someone who's well financed enough and willing to fight the two major parties and win. The closest thing we have to a viable third party are the Libertarians, and they haven't elected anyone as a state representative this century (a couple of state representatives switched parties after being elected).flockofseagulls104 wrote: We need a new political party.

I expect that the GOP will lose their majorities in both the Senate and House.flockofseagulls104 wrote:For once I agree with you, Bob. I am sure for different reasons though. House, very unlikely thanks to gerrymandering. Even with Drumpf at the top of the Republican ticket, most of those gerrymandered red districts will still re-elect their Republican representatives. I live in one of them--Ohio's 1st District. Hamilton County is a blue county and is big enough for its own district, but the state legislature cracked Hamilton County many years ago in order to keep Cincinnati red. Western and northern Cincinnati is attached to deep red Warren County, while central and eastern Cincinnati are a part of the 2d District (home of notorious former rep Jean Schmidt) with several deep red south central counties.

A possible GOP loss of the senate can not really be tied to Trump. The geography of the races this year almost makes that a foregone conclusion.Bob Juch wrote: I expect that the GOP will lose their majorities in both the Senate and House.
Something I have been pondering is that (Obviously) Trump has a huge gender gap with women. Less reported is the gender gap Hilary has with men. What is more likely over the course of the campaign.
1) Will men move to Hillary?
Or
2) Will women move to Trump?

Re: A Fox News opinion piece on Trump
Geography and the number of seats at risk made the Senate a toss-up this year. But Trump's candidacy puts John McCain's seat in Arizona in jeopardy, make it more difficult for the Republicans to hold Marco Rubio's seat and to take Harry Reid's Nevada seat (he is retiring, and open seats are always easier to change parties).Spock wrote:A possible GOP loss of the senate can not really be tied to Trump. Right now, Larry Sabato rates the Senate as 48-47 Republican, with five toss-ups (FL, NH, NV, OH, PA). If Hillary is elected President, the Democrats would have to win three of these to control the Senate (or pull off an upset somewhere else).

If the Senate swings to the Democrats due to a Trump loss, prepare for another round of "our candidate wasn't conservative enough to win" mantras.

That would be true if they bothered to vote. I predict that many Republicans won't bother.Spock wrote:A possible GOP loss of the senate can not really be tied to Trump. Didn't you also predict that if the Republicans nominated Trump, the Democrats would win the Electoral College in a shutout? Sticking to that? --BobBob Juch wrote:That would be true if they bothered to vote.
