"Millionaire" video auditions

#1 Post by jarnon » Tue May 12, 2015 1:01 pm

With its compressed taping schedule and limited road auditions, hopefuls from Elsewhere® have few opportunities to audition in person for Who Wants to Be a Millionaire Season 14 with Chris Harrison. So there's a new way to audition: post a 30-second video stating why you think YOU are the next millionaire.

BE ON THE SHOW – SEND IN YOUR VIDEO AUDITION

They're doing this again? I had

How to be witty or impactful in 30 seconds- I think the last time I did this, I had one minute.

I still have my winning entry video from back then (not that I got selected onto the show- it just qualified me to take the online test).

And then there's this:
If selected, you will be contacted by Who Wants To Be A Millionaire to audition. You must bring a picture ID and proof of age and residency to your audition.
Um...but you just said this was for if you couldn't come to an in-person aud...oh never mind.

If the producers love your video, they'll find a way to give you the test and get you on the show. They have some leeway, since there's nothing in the Official Rules about video auditions. Everyone else will be told they're welcome to attend a regular in-person audition.

That's not what it says- it says if they like your video, you still have to come and audition.

I'm guessing the "benefits" are if they like your video, they're predisposed to like you, and that will make any subsequent audition go better.

And that the audition can take place on your time as opposed to a regularly scheduled audition (although I don't see that as much of an advantage to someone who can't make the regular auditions).

But at any rate, looks like you still have to do a real audition after your video.
