It looks like Hulu will join fellow subscription services Amazon Prime and Netflix in providing original programming for streaming devices. They have reached an agreement with Stephen King and J.J. Abrams to develop a nine-hour miniseries based on King's novel 11/22/63 about a man who travels back in time to try to prevent the Kennedy assassination. James Franco will star and also be one of the producers. No word yet on other casting.
Hulu has presented "original programming" in the past, but much of it was bottom of the barrel stuff. This series is designed to compete directly with Netflix offerings like Kevin Spacey's House of Cards.
