Re: RIP Tom Menino
The news here is all Menino, all laudatory, and every bit of it deserved. They cited one poll that indicated half the people in Boston said they'd met him personally. I don't live in Boston proper (or improper), but I would wish similar governance for every city, big and small. He will be missed.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

Re: RIP Tom Menino
I have never lived in "Boston proper", have never met Mr. Menino & am not a fan of his every move, either. But am of lots of them. What impressed me most of the many tributes to him locally is the description of the camp he founded not so long ago to get deprived children to spend a month on the shore. He was always most impressed & depressed, his friends say, about kids who didn't have the advantages they should have. He met kids who were living 4 miles from the ocean & had never seen it, & that just blew him away. So he got them there.
He deserved to spend his retirement with his wife & kids & grandkids & as many as of his many friends as he wanted to. Its just so sad that he can't.
