Allyson Rosenthal, who appeared on WWTBAM on September 24, has used some of her winnings to give a $6,000 matching grant to an animal shelter.
Rosenthal, who has three dogs and a cat ("I'm bi-petual"), has been a volunteer at Heartland Animal Shelter in Northbrook for almost six years. She puts in 12-15 hours a week, doing a little of everything -- working on adoptions, socializing animals, helping with fundraising, cleaning ("I'm not above scooping poop"). She decided Heartland should get some of her winnings.

Glad to see that the Tribune took the pay wall down for this article (I could not access it earlier). Nice picture and story (although the link down on the right of the page entitled "Lizzie Borden, animal lover" did give me pause). Thanks for the link!
