So, now I'm a blond

#1 Post by tlynn78 » Fri Aug 08, 2014 10:07 am

Six weeks or so ago I let my grandbaby-mama put highlights in my hair, mostly to 'ease the transition' to gray, ifyaknowwhatimean. Yesterday, it was time to touch them up. Um.. Her: "I think we should go slightly heavier on the highlights"
Me: "<thinking she was diplomatically telling me my grays were more aggressive than I'd imagined> Sure, whatever you think"

Me: <45 minutes later> "HOLY SHIT"

Pretty sure my IQ is 30 points lower already.

Like, dude. I've been a blonde ferevah and, like, stopped coloring my hair last year, so, like, my natural color is a layered blondey/grayey and it has had NO impact on my, like, IQishness. Know what I mean?

You surely are as brilliant as ever, now with more glooowwwww.
Well, then

LOL - found it?

I'm sure it's simply a coincidence that I've had a rough morning, brain-wise. At least, that's what I'm telling myself...It's just, kind of an adjustment. I've never, ever been this blond. Like, ever. I'll see if I can figure out how to get a pic up somewhere sometime this weekend. I'm freaking out a little bit.

Well, hey. Good thing is the white trash "ombre" roots look is neverending, so growing it out will be a breeze. Snicker.

A guy was doing an impromptu rap to impress (presumably to impress) his buds, & he threw in a line about "there's that lady who used to be blonde". I had to suppress the guffaw, because I was walking past & he could only have meant me. I'm gray now, a rather interesting streaky-with-white gray in some lights (in others, just, well, gray) but hardly anyone with my olive skin tone "used to be blonde" unless it was from a bottle. "There's that lady who used to have dark brown hair, with reddish highlights in the summer" doesn't scan so well in a rap. I could make it scan, though.

Hey, I've done the same thing over the past 4 months. Love my natural platinum colored hair with much less upkeep.

They asked for jokes at the Raleigh audition so I told a blonde joke.

Why are Blonde jokes so short?

Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Over the weekend, when we were in Las Vegas, my younger granddaughter said she was thinking of stopping bleaching her hair (she, like me, was blonde when she was younger but then it went brown). I told her, "Oh don't do that. You won't have an excuse anymore." :P
