I got an unwelcome birthday gift - news that my backup has a new job and will be leaving soon. She doesn't have an exact start date for her new position, but it won't be long. And with my other putative backup still on maternity leave, that puts me back in the unenviable position of being the indispensable employee. Depending upon Erika's start date, I could have my leave scheduled for next month canceled.
