Procrastinating

#1 Post by gsabc » Wed Jun 18, 2014 6:53 am

Hi gang! I'm supposed to be writing up audit reports (two desk audits, one onsite audit) but am delaying. Once I get rolling, I'll be okay, but till then ...

Working two consulting contracts, which still don't total 40 hours/week together. The one through my consulting group was supposed to be up to 30 hours, has ended up averaging less than 20. It may get extended due to some production delays, but because it's now so spread out they may decide to go in-house for the rest of it. {Probably won't find out until the last minute. The other job fell into my lap, so to speak, so I'm also an independent contractor now. That's the one with the audits. They may or may not have more for me to do, and may or may not take me on full time. If the latter, I'll end up fixing all the problems I've been finding.

All through this, we've been preparing for HS's wedding. We're footing the bill again and making all the arrangements. This one has been harder than BD's. Vendors and venue are not as cooperative as the last group. Bride-to-be has been slow in making decisions. Her family is, shall we say, interesting. They haven't been stepping up to help even with the small stuff that doesn't involve money, something that SIL's family did willingly and without asking. Now, three weeks out, we are told there may not be a flower girl present (long story). GW is ready to start drinking now, and keep drinking until two days after. We've been cleaning the house, a task that needed doing but is still a PITA. We'll be full up, with BD's family plus dog, and GW's BFF and her daughter (GW's god-daughter). So in a way it's good that I have time at home, but that's bad b/c it means that I'm not earning money. If you don't hear from me for the next few weeks, all these events are the reason.

Okay, I'm going to get the haircut I need out of the way this AM, then return home and tackle these reports. Cover me, I'm going in!

It's generous of you to pick up the tab but shouldn't the bride's family be doing that?

It's a wonder more parents don't encourage their kids to elope!
