Played Grand National Teams, Flight B, this weekend. We needed a 6-person team this year because I wasn't available yesterday afternoon -- Sparky's arts program had its end-of-year performance. I played the first session yesterday and we were in third. I got nervous when I got a message after 5 of the 7 rounds that we were sitting in fifth -- the top 4 teams qualified for the knockout stage. All was well, though, as we finished comfortably in third.
We started our semifinal knockout match down by 9.625 (thanks to carryover from yesterday). We turned the margin around in the first half, and then added to our lead in the second half, thereby making the finals. Our opponents were mostly the team that had already won Flight C. This turned out to be fortunate, because they won the first half by 29 IMPs and then fought us to a draw in the second half. So we ended up second, but because the team that won will almost certainly represent the District in a different flight, we'll probably get to be our District's representatives anyway. --Bob

Re: Bridge report
It's official. The team that beat us elected to proceed in Flight C, so we get to go as the District's representatives to Flight B. --Bob
