Suitguy is not bitter.
feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive
The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Re: The Ultimate QoD Challenge -- Week 2, Monday
1. JERRY FALWELL / THOMAS JEFFERSON / ANDREW CARNEGIE / LELAND STANFORD
They all established universities.
2. MONEY / SNAKE / CHERRY / ARM
You can put "pit" after all of these words to make valid words and phrases.
3. ROBERT GRAVES / JAMES PARKINSON / CHARLES BELL / LOU GEHRIG
They've all had diseases named after them.
4. IN THE SONGWRITER'S APARTMENT / IN THE PET STORE / IN A REDUCO OBESITY SLAYER AD / NEXT TO CARY GRANT ON THE BUS
Places where Alfred Hitchcock made cameos in his movies. The movies in question were "Rear Window", "The Birds", "Lifeboat", and "To Catch a Thief".
5. HANNIBAL / JAMES THURBER / TEDDY ROOSEVELT / SANDY DUNCAN
They've all lost sight in one eye.
6. WHEW / THE JOKER'S WILD / WHEEL OF FORTUNE / THE FACTS OF LIFE
TV shows whose theme songs were written by Alan Thicke. Other TV themes he wrote were "Diff'rent Strokes" and Alex Trebek's first American game show, "The Wizard of Odds"--both of which he also sang.
7. ST. JOHN THE HESYCHAST / WINGS / TELLER / 4'33"
They're all silent. St. John the Hesychast was also known as St. John the Silent. And as most of you figured out, "Wings" was the Academy Award-winning silent film, Teller is Penn Jillette's silent partner, and 4'33" is John Cage's silent masterpiece.
8. I / T / V / WILDCAT
Football formations. If you said "offensive formations", you got the point because they all are indeed for the offense. So naturally, if you had said "defensive formations", then you wouldn't have gotten the point.
9. JAZZ / NATIONAL PARKS / BASEBALL / U.S. CIVIL WAR
Subjects of Ken Burns documentaries.
10. SETH MACFARLANE / REID SHELTON / VICTOR GARBER / ALBERT FINNEY
If you knew who Reid Shelton was, then it would give away the connection. They've all played Oliver "Daddy" Warbucks. Shelton originated the role on Broadway. MacFarlane, for the record, has voiced Daddy Warbucks in several "Lil Orphan Annie" parodies on Adult Swim's "Robot Chicken".
Bob J achieved the first perfect score of this contest. Enjoy that honor, Bob, because I don't think there are going to be a whole lot of perfect scores in this contest.
