RIP Alain Resnais

Acclaimed French director, best known for Hiroshima Mon Amour, Last Year at Marienbad, and Providence, he's considered one of the leading New Wave directors (although his style was very different from Truffaut's). Of more note, his death answers the question, how late is too late to be included in the Oscar In Memoriam tribute. While Harold Ramis made the cut, Resnais, who died on Saturday, was not included in the tribute.

Age 91.
