Just finished with a one-on-one meeting with the newly selected BOB branch chief (new boss, same as the old boss), just so she could tell me that I won't be doing anything different than I've been doing all along. No surprise there.
Interesting side note (to me, at least). Last Friday I was eating lunch and a man walked up and stood at the table where I was seated. It took me a minute then I realized it was Dave, a guy who had worked in our office a few years ago and transferred to Ft. Knox where there was better chance for advancement. He was a GS9 when he left and now he's a GS13 and he was in the building to interview for a job. Turns out the job was for the BOB branch chief. I really hoped he'd get it, not only because he's a great guy and very knowledgeable, but because it would have been nice to have another male in the branch. However I pretty much knew that the two vacancies (branch chief positions - one for the BOB and the other for the civil branch) would be given to two people already doing the job, and who not coincidentally are good friends with the division chief.
