Beatles Week on Letterman

#1 Post by Estonut » Tue Feb 04, 2014 3:58 am

Dave's going to have tributes to the Beatles all week. This is from Monday's show.

And I Love Her - Broken Bells with Ringo Starr (kind of):

The author of the article linked below wrote:Last month, it was revealed that the ‘Late Show with David Letterman’ would be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Beatles‘ arrival in America with a week of programming dedicated to the group. Yesterday (Jan. 31), the show announced most of the musical acts that will be participating in the festivities from Feb. 3-7.

ABC News Radio reports that on Monday, indie band Broken Bells, a collaboration between the Shins‘ James Mercer and producer Danger Mouse, will perform ‘And I Love Her.’ They’ll be followed the next night by Sting, singing ‘Drive My Car.’ Wednesday will feature the Flaming Lips, with special guest Sean Lennon on ‘Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds,’ and Lenny Kravitz will play a song to be determined on Thursday.

That leaves Friday, Feb. 7 open. It has been rumored that the producers have expressed interest in getting Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr for that episode. After all, that day will mark the 50th anniversary of their landing at New York’s Kennedy Airport, and the ‘Late Show’ is taped in the Ed Sullivan Theater, where they made their famous first live televised performance.

On Monday in Los Angeles, McCartney and Starr performed two Beatles songs during the taping of ‘The Night That Changed America: A Grammy Salute to the Beatles.’ The program will air Feb. 9 at 8:00PM Eastern on CBS.
