The Devils went down to Georgia. They were lookin' for a bowl to steal.
They were fit to be tied. Since '61 denied. They were willing to make a deal
When they came across this young man autographing pics, he was signing a lot.
And the Devils jumped upon a hickory stump and said "Boy, let me tell you what."

"We bet you didn't know it, but we got a football team, too.
And if you'd care to take a dare we'll make a bet with you.
Now you play a pretty good football, boy, but give the Devils their due.
We'll bet a trophy of gold against your soul 'cause we think we're better than you."

The boy said, "My name's Johnny, and it might be a sin,
But I'll take your bet; and you're gonna regret 'cause I'm the best there's ever been."

Johnny, cut left and Johnny cut right and run a hundred yards.
'Cause Hell's broke loose in Georgia and the Devils deal the cards.
And if you win you get this shiny trophy made of gold,
But if you lose the devil gets your soul.

The Devils opened up a lead and said, "We'll steal this show."
And fire flew from their quarterback's hands as he put on a show.
And they scored at will, and challenged a call and made the Aggies hiss.
And a band of demons joined in and it looked something like this. (38-17)

When the Devils finished, Johnny said, "Y'all think that you have won?,
But sit down on that bench right there and let me show you how it's done."

"Fire from the backfield." Run, Mike, run!
The Devils are in the lead but they've not yet won;
Toney's in the open picking off Boone.

The Devils bowed their heads because they knew that they'd been beat.
And they laid that golden trophy on the ground at Johnny's feet.
Johnny said, "Devils, just come on back if you ever wanna try again,
'Cause I've told you once--you sons of a bitches--I'm the best there's ever been."
And he played:
